Explore ETB’s Pricing Model

The backbone of our work at Expanding the Bench® (ETB) has always been to create opportunities and pathways for racially and ethnically diverse leaders to apply and spread awareness of the practice of culturally responsive and equitable evaluation (CREE) throughout the field of evaluation. Now more than ever, it’s critical that ETB both expand upon our efforts and lay the groundwork for sustainability. Our new pricing model will allow us to do so.

Why Launch the Pricing Model?

Investing in this movement creates a tangible way for Funders of Evaluation to provide annual support to partner with diverse Evaluators and as they value, practice, and promote a CREE ecosystem. And since we don’t charge Evaluators who participate in our programs, this funding will allow us to continue to provide our services with room to expand.

And ETB is certainly growing. Since the initiative began, we’ve engaged 150+ racially and ethnically diverse Evaluators, Funders of Evaluation, and related stakeholders in our collective programming and seek only to continue that expansion. In fact, our development of the term CREE and its definition, which is at the heart of our work, has gained widespread usage among Evaluators and organizations interested in ensuring equitable approaches to their evaluation practice. A consistent means of support is key to ensuring that CREE one day becomes an industry standard.

How Does the Model Work?

There are three levels of pricing in this model. Leaders in Equitable Evaluation and Diversity (LEEAD) Scholars and Alumni and Advancing Culturally-responsive and Equitable (ACE) Evaluation Network Members receive services at no charge. Non-subscribers get access to an array of one-time à la carte services, and subscribers earn a bundle of services over the course of one year.

ETB and LEEAD are just such incredible partners in advancing CREE practice. I feel like we’ve been able to turn a new corner and that this project was eye-opening for me as well as other staff, who are not evaluators but philanthropic practitioners, as to the value of evaluation done well and with an emphasis on equity and cultural responsiveness … we’d be so interested in serving as a (Practicum Host) Site next year.

What’s Included?

Evaluator Engagement Consultation

As Evaluators and Funders of Evaluation increasingly are taking an equity lens to their work, there are times when support in that process is helpful. Funders want to know that they are framing a project, designing an engagement process, and developing their calls for proposals in an equitable manner. Upon request, ETB will convene a small group of consultants with experience in equitable engagement to provide support in the engagement process to funders.

CREE Learning Series

ETB supports opportunities to further the knowledge of Evaluators, Funders of Evaluation, and others in the field of the practice of CREE. Our CREE Learning Series is a three-part, 12-video learning tool hosted by subject matter guides that is followed by periodic group discussion.

Coffee Breaks

Relationships are at the heart of everything we do and we have learned that they are a necessary, fundamental component of a movement. ETB provides Coffee Breaks that serve as an opportunity to get to know individuals in an informal virtual setting that has increased the number of ACE Evaluation Network Evaluators bringing their CREE practice to Funders of Evaluation. Funders and Evaluators share information with ETB about their interests and ETB matches funders and evaluators to connect and share their practice with one another. Coffee Breaks are offered four times per year.

ACE Evaluation Network Gathering

Every year at the American Evaluation Association’s conference, ETB convenes ACE Evaluation Network Evaluators and Funders of Evaluation to connect, share, and learn. This gathering is an in-person opportunity to network, build knowledge in the field, and identify areas for further innovation.
