About Ascendium Education Group
Ascendium Education Group has helped millions of learners pursue postsecondary education since 1967, when it was formed to help fulfill the promise of the landmark Higher Education Act of 1965. Over the years, Ascendium has grown to become the nation’s largest federal student loan guarantor, providing information, tools, and counseling to help millions of borrowers nationwide avoid default and keep the door to re-enrollment open. The organization guarantees federal student loans, conceives and develops innovative products and services that support student success and loan repayment, and invests in studying and improving postsecondary education practices through their philanthropy.
Ascendium is seeking an experienced professional to join its grantmaking team and contribute to its growing learning and impact practice. The Learning and Impact Officer will contribute functional expertise in evaluation, research, and data measurement to the philanthropic team and will be responsible for designing and leading complex evaluations and related projects that support the organization’s and its grantees’ learning and understanding of impact. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Learning & Impact, the newly created position of Learning and Impact Officer will have primarily internal-facing responsibilities for contributing to the three main work-streams of the emerging Learning and Impact unit: (1) collecting actionable information about Ascendium’s operations and impact, (2) facilitating learning practices across all four focus areas, and (3) effectively communicating resulting lessons learned to internal and external stakeholders. This position supports the philanthropy division’s efforts to both demonstrate the impact of Ascendium’s work and learn from experiences in ways that sharpen their grantmaking strategy and practice.
