About the Administration for Community Living
Each year, Congress appropriates funds to the Administration for Community Living (ACL) to support community living through a variety of programs. ACL, in turn, provides the funding to states and local governments, community organizations, colleges and universities, and other organizations that conduct research or provide services and supports for older adults and people with disabilities. Grants and cooperative agreements are the major vehicles through which ACL transfers its appropriated funds to organizations providing, supporting, or researching community living.
About the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects
The Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects (DRRP) funding program supports projects that carry out one or more of the following activities: research, development, demonstration, training, dissemination, utilization, and technical assistance. The purpose of the DRRP program is to plan and conduct research, demonstration projects, training, and related activities to develop methods, procedures, and rehabilitation technology that maximize the full inclusion and integration of individuals with disabilities into society, employment, independent living, family support, and to promote economic and social self-sufficiency and improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act.
About the Opportunity
Under this particular DRRP priority, applicants must propose a development project that is aimed at improving the employment outcomes of people with disabilities. In carrying out a development project under this program, a grantee must use knowledge and understanding gained from research to create models, methods, tools, applications, and devices beneficial to the target population, including design and development of prototypes and processes.
