Safeguarding Federal Data for Democracy
By: CT Data Collaborative
Event Date: 05/20/25
Federal data is the backbone of American democracy, informing everything from public health and civil rights enforcement to economic development and community planning. Yet, recent executive actions and policy proposals threaten to diminish the scope and accessibility of federal data—especially data on race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, and gender identity. This virtual event will explore the implications of these threats and highlight efforts to safeguard critical datasets. Participants will gain insights into the risks posed by data suppression and learn strategies to preserve equitable access to federal data as a foundation for accountability, research, and informed decision-making.
