General Subscription Questions

• When and how can I subscribe?

  The subscription form on the ETB website shows a menu of all the services provided by the initiative and allows you to subscribe and pay online at any time. If you have any questions about payment, services, or the form, please email our Team at team@expandingthebench.org. 

  If you have questions or would like to learn more about specific elements of the Pricing Model or how to otherwise support the ETB initiative, please email ETB Co-Director Elizabeth Waetzig at ewaetzig@changematrix.org. 

• What is the duration of a subscription?

  The duration of both à la carte and annual subscriptions is 12 months. For example, if you subscribed in February 2024, your subscription would expire in February 2025. 

• What is the difference between becoming an annual subscriber or choosing services à la carte?

  The à la carte option provides subscribers the flexibility to choose the specific services that meet their needs. The subscription option provides the entire bundle of services for a year. 

  À la carte services can be chosen individually through the subscription form. 

• How do I know what membership levels to select for my organization?

  We are asking organizations to self-select their size based upon the factors typically used to determine an organization’s size. Size-determining factors may include the current number of staff, number of grants received or distributed, revenue received or distributed, or any other factor that you feel is relevant to determining the size of your organization.

• Am I/is my organization able to subscribe to just one service from the available à la carte offerings?

  Absolutely. If you are only interested in one of the services, you may select and subscribe to that service only. 

• How many people can participate under one annual subscription? For example, if my organization subscribed for an annual subscription for up to three people, are we limited to three participants in total, or three participants per service?

  We count participants from a subscribing organization per service. In this case, you can include different participants for each service, but no more than three participants per service. 

• Can we substitute people for future services?

  We invite you to make substitutions. The only service we do not recommend doing substitutions for is the Culturally Responsive and Equitable Evaluation (CREE) Learning Series because, as a cumulative series, it is important to have the same person/people engage in all discussions. 

• Is ETB working with philanthropy serving organizations (PSOs) and how can these services and/or the Pricing Model work for/with PSOs?

  We do partner with PSOs. We welcome a PSO or their members as subscribers or to engage our à la carte services. Please connect with our team to discuss what works best for your membership. Upon request, the ETB Team can also provide a detailed presentation about our services to potential or existing subscribers. 

• Are services included in the Pricing Model free for Evaluators from the ETB Community (Advancing Culturally-responsive and Equitable [ACE] Evaluation Network Members and Leaders in Equitable Evaluation and Diversity [LEEAD] Scholars/Alumni)?

  Yes! We do not charge ACE Evaluation Network Members or LEEAD Alumni or Scholars for any of these services.  

  Investing in this movement is a tangible way to financially support and partner with diverse Evaluators as they value, practice, and promote a culturally responsive and equitable evaluation (CREE) ecosystem. Your financial support allows us to continue to offer current and expanded services to Evaluators who participate in our programs at no cost.

Subscription Payment Questions

• Can we pay by check or make a grant via a fiscal agent/sponsor?

  Yes, ETB can accommodate various methods of payment. Please reach out to ETB Co-Director Elizabeth Waetzig at ewaetzig@changematrix.org to coordinate payment.

• Can I subscribe or purchase services à la carte for others?

  Yes! If you believe these services would be of value for others, you can purchase them on their behalf. For example, the Evaluator Engagement Consultation (EEC) and other services, including ETB Coffee Breaks and the CREE Learning Series, are designed in such a way that they can be offered to others to build their capacity in CREE-focused evaluation practices.

• If requesting an invoice, when can I expect to be invoiced for my subscription?

  Change Matrix (CM), the managing organization for ETB, can send an invoice upon request or as the commitment to the subscription and purchase is made. 

• Is ETB a 501(C)(3)? If not, do you have a fiscal sponsor?

  ETB is an initiative that is led and managed by CM. We are a small, women-led, for-profit business. We do work with a fiscal sponsor, the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC). As a 501(C)(3), CNDC is set up to accept grants, awards, and donations on our behalf.

Service-Specific Questions

Evaluator Engagement Consultation (EEC)

• Who would participate as a consultant in the Evaluator Engagement Consultation (EEC)?

  As part of the service, eight Evaluators from the ACE Evaluation Network serve as consultants. The ACE Evaluation Network is comprised of racially and ethnically diverse Evaluators who have been historically and/or are presently underrepresented or marginalized in the U.S. who are experienced and committed to using CREE and spreading its practice. 

• How many staff members from my organization can participate in the Evaluator Engagement Consultation?

  Up to three people from your organization may participate during each EEC engagement. 

• What are some examples of potential consultations?

  Potential consultations may include: 

  • Framing an evaluation project description with a CREE lens.
  • Designing an equitable engagement process.
  • Developing an equity-focused request for proposal or scope of work.

  We are also open to your ideas! 

• How many requests can my organization submit?

  Annual subscribers can submit up to three requests during their subscription period. The price for à la carte subscribers is priced per request.

ETB Coffee Breaks

• I am interested in ETB Coffee Breaks. When will they take place?

  ETB is hosting the ETB Coffee Break Mixer in April 2024. Coffee Breaks will be offered in the spring and fall. Please see more information here.

• What is the intention of Coffee Breaks?

  Coffee Breaks are intended to serve as a “get-to-know-you” opportunity, focused on networking and relationship-building. While these meetings may lead to direct conversation about work, proposals, and contracts, this is not an expected part of the conversation. 

• How many connections can I make during a Coffee Break?

  This is completely up to you! After you subscribe, the ETB Team will email you a short form to complete where you will indicate your availability for Coffee Break discussions and express how many people you’d like to connect with. On average, most participants opt to connect with two people per Coffee Break.

• How long is each Coffee Break chat?

  The recommended meeting time is one hour. Once you subscribe, we encourage you to hold some time on your calendar to offer to the Evaluator(s) with whom you are matched.

• Can I invite another person from my organization to my Coffee Break?

  You may, but first check in with the ETB Team to inform us of your intentions. This is so that we can be transparent in introducing both you and your colleague to the Evaluator(s) with whom you will be matched.

• How are Coffee Break matches made?

  You will be matched with one or more Evaluators based on your focus area(s) and other preferences that you may indicate through a short form that the ETB Team will send to you once you subscribe.

CREE Learning Series

• I am interested in the CREE Learning Series. When will it take place?

  For 2024, the CREE Learning Series has moved to an asynchronous, year-round model which provides the opportunity to learn the CREE LS content at your own pace through teach:able. Registration will open in the spring of 2024. The ETB Team will send out more information about sign-up soon via Bench (Re)Marks. Sign up to receive this e-newsletter here.

• What does “organizational access” for the CREE Learning Series mean? Can my entire organization access the CREE Learning Series?

  Organizational access to the CREE Learning Series includes access to this service for up to six people per organization.

ETB Gathering

• What is the ETB Gathering and when will it take place?

  The ETB Gathering will take place during the American Evaluation Association Conference in fall 2024. The ETB Team will convene LEEAD Scholars, ACE Evaluation Network Members, and Funders of Evaluation for a night of celebration, socializing, and dancing! In addition to offering a space to network and have fun, the ETB Gathering will also commemorate the achievements of the LEEAD Scholars’ completion of the LEEAD Program. We will be sending out more information this summer to subscribers as we approach the conference.
