Remembering Dr. Karen Trujillo
Dr. Karen Trujillo: 1970 – 2021
Always in our hearts
Members of the LEEAD community who knew Dr. Trujillo shared fond words of remembrance in the wake of her passing:
“I’m at a loss for words. Karen was a beautiful spirit who was passionate about serving her students. Her family, friends, and community are in my thoughts and prayers.”
“I remember first meeting Karen as we rode the shuttle to the hotel next to our LEEAD meeting. Right away [I] remember having a wonderful conversation with her (I’m from El Paso right next to New Mexico). My heart and prayers go out to her family, friends, and community. May she rest in peace.”
“Such a tremendous loss for her community and family. She was doing amazing things for the kids in New Mexico and the comments in the article [about her passing] indicate how much she will be missed.”
“I pray for comfort for the family, associates, friends, and all of us connected in one way to Dr. Karen Trujilo. Her life, and the testimonies shared/posted online about her, showed she impacted countless lives, institutions, and profoundly blessed humanity. Dr. Karen Trujilo was indeed a blessing!”
“This is incredibly sad news. I kept up with Karen the most in our cohort, and it was a delight to see her navigating big roles as Ed Secretary and then as a superintendent in New Mexico. I am sending my condolences and prayers to her family.”
“I am devastated that a member of our LEEAD family is gone. I will pray for her and her family. Sending all of you big virtual hugs and hopes for a time in the not-so-distant future when we can be together again.”
“The only moment we are promised is the one we are in now. Karen’s sudden and tragic death is such a heartbreaking reminder of this. Despite the time it’s been, I still value my moments with you in LEEAD and beyond. It’s been a while, and I am sure a lot of loss and struggle has happened amongst us all since then, but I continue to wish you all as many moments of love, joy, and peace as you can possibly muster into every single second.”
