Opportunity Description
Have you lost hope? Our rights are under attack, marginalized communities are being pushed even further to the margins, and businesses are divesting from equity at an alarming rate. It often seems impossible to find the strength to fight. This course offers an opportunity to rebuild and maintain the hope that is crucial to our survival as a nation and your ability to stay in the fight. This session isn’t peddling in toxic positivity or saccharine disillusionment; instead scholars and consultants Erica Nicole Griffin and Jamie Patrice Joanou pair a critical analysis of systems and culture with the assurance and reminder that the people will always prevail over oppression. This two-part series demonstrates how to use the words and lives of some of history’s most prolific and hopeful leaders, scholars, artists, and activists to build your own practice of critical hope. The aim is to help participants cultivate the kind of hope necessary to sustain their anti-racism practice in the face of the current climate.
