Decolonizing Data: Document the Movement
Training Signup Due Date: 03/10/26
Name of Agency or Organization: Nonprofit Association of Oregon
Opportunity Description
Data can be a tool for documenting your story of impact across time and varying social-political climates. Data has now become a liability when you’re building for ethical and fair treatment in hostile conditions. In an era where language and visibility can be weaponized, the way we document our work matters as much as the work itself. This session explores decolonizing approaches to data that center the people most impacted, resisting extractive practices, and structuring records to withstand scrutiny without compromising safety or values. Participants will learn how to make documentation a shield for the movement, not a tool for its undoing.
