Telling the ETB Story with Intention
My name is Cachet Evans, and I am the Communications Coordinator here at Expanding the Bench® (ETB). I stepped into this role a year and some change ago, and in that time, I’ve come to understand that how we tell our story is just as important as the story itself.
In this role, I carry ETB’s values—equity, community, integrity, and learning—into our digital spaces. Every caption, webpage update, newsletter opener, blog, and “From the Desk of…,” is an opportunity to practice those values and make them tangible. But communicating them clearly requires intention.

Intention means slowing down to consider: Whose voices are we amplifying? Who is being left out? What messages are we sending, not just with our words, but with our imagery, tone, and timing? In a landscape where attention is limited and equity work is constantly evolving, I see communication as more than a task. It’s a practice of reinforcing our commitments in every post and platform.
Our digital presence is often the first touchpoint for someone learning about culturally responsive and equitable evaluation. That’s why it matters to be intentional. It’s not just about visibility. It’s about building trust, inviting connection, and helping people see themselves in the work.
At its core, Expanding the Bench is about transforming the evaluation field and elevating the voices of diverse evaluators. Thank you for being part of this ongoing story and trusting us to tell it with care and intention.
