Opportunity Description

This interactive course focuses on the evaluation of training programs aimed at advancing knowledge, fostering attitudinal change, promoting behavioral intent, and delivering organizational and system-level benefits. Participants will explore key questions such as: What makes training effective? How do changes impact individuals, their social networks, and institutions? Through practical approaches, the course addresses challenges in evaluating the behavioral application of content and organizational benefits from training and capacity-building efforts.

The curriculum includes an overview of training evaluation models, pre-training assessments, and expectations, as well as planning and implementing training evaluations. Topics covered include developing key indicators, metrics, and measures; designing evaluations; collecting and ensuring data quality; and reporting progress and outcomes at individual and institutional levels. Emphasis is placed on knowledge management and MEL (monitoring, evaluation, and learning) initiatives, with real-world case examples illustrating concepts. Participants will also gain insights into common challenges in evaluating training and capacity-building efforts and learn strategies to address them effectively.
